Тема: Простое прошедшее время. Виды вопросительных предложений в простом прошедшем времени.

6 класс( УМК Кауфмана)

Hello, girls and boys. Let me introduce myself. I’m Akhmatova Olga Alexeyevna. Today I will be your English teacher.


Welcome to the lesson where we are going to read, to sing, to play, to study English Grammar. Also today at the lesson we’ll learn how to make different types of questions in the Past Simple Tense.
Our lesson is not usual and I would like your class to be divided into three or four groups , because I offer you to work in teams. And, please, work friendly and help each other.

The Past Simple Tense. When do we usually use the tense? Of course, we use the tense to talk about actions and situations in the past.


Could you give me an example of using the tense? What did you do yesterday? As for me I was very busy. I went to Krasnodar, I went to work, I cleaned my house and prepared dinner and supper for my family. Only in the evening I could rest a little but unfortunately it was not enough.
Look at the screen. Let’s review how to build the Past Simple Tense. OK, And now tell me, please what did you do yesterday, using the model.

English sounds are very difficult for Russian people so let’s train our tongues because some English sounds are very difficult for Russian people. Look at the board – here are the sounds and the words. Call the sounds! Repeat the words after me all together.

Do you know English songs? Today I want you to meet with one of them. Listen to a very famous traditional English song “Hickory, dickory, dock” . I’d like to mind the intonation of the singer , try to translate and learn it by heart. Pay attention to new words, please.

So the Past Simple Tense. Now we are going to learn how to make different types of questions. At the screen you can see the rule of making questions in the Tense. I’d like to work by yourselves in your teams and try to explain the rule of making questions in the Past Simple to your classmates.

  4. Какой член предложения несет на себе грамматическую нагрузку и указывает на время?

  5. Какие ошибки можно допустить при составлении вопросов в этом времени,

Yesterday I sent a letter from my friend Ann. In her letter she told me about her holidays. Your task is to read the letter, find sentences in the Past Simple Present, underline the verbs in the tense and make 5 questions to the letter. I’d like you to imagine that one of you is a journalist ( he will ask questions) and another will be Ann( she will answer the questions).

Dear Olga,

Thank you for your letter. It was great to hear from you.

I had a wonderful holiday last year. I went to Great Britain with my family . We stayed there for two weeks . The hotel where we stayed in was big and very new. Every day we got up at 7 o’clock because excursions began very early. I knew a lot about sights of London. I was happy to see Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. I liked the Tower of London very much. It is very old. In the past it was a royal residence and a prison . Now it is a museum. During the holiday I read and practiced in English a lot and my English became better. There I made a few new friends too.

I hope you have a nice holiday too. Write soon and tell me all about it.

What team was the best in your opinion? Your marks today are only a five.

Your home task you can see on the board. Write a letter to your friend and tell him something that happened in the past and ask 5 questions about his past events. Stand up children.
